2022 was the first year the Killarney Community Events group hosted a program and major concert, and it was a big success.
Close to 3,000 people purchased tickets and organizers are hoping 2023 will be even better.
“We’re really excited about 2023 and have our bands lined up for Canada Day. We’ve secured one of the top Canadian bands right now with the Reklaws coming to town. We have a couple of supporting acts as well and that includes the Sentinels an old band from Deloraine. Tangle Box another bad fairly local to the area is in the lineup and we’ve got Hicktown coming back again,” said Chairperson Ryan Heinrichs.
“Our opening act is Justin LaBrash a Saskatchewan based singer who approached us about coming here and opening up the show.”
Organizers think 2023 will be a great year and their goal is to surpass 4,000 patrons and maybe even get close to 5,000 concert goers.
“We’re doing what we can to achieve that and we’re keeping ticket prices the same. That’s $50 for adults, $20 for 12 and under and 6 and under get in for free. Tickets are available on eventbrite.com or locally at Lewis and Jones or at the Shamrock Centre.
Plans are to have food trucks at the July 1st program and lots of activities for the entire family related to Canada Day being hosted by the community of Killarney-Turtle Mountain.
The community is starting to get a name as a place band want to perform. “After last year’s show we actually had the Hunter Brothers approach us about playing again in 2023. We thought about it and decided to bring in a new group for 2023. The same with Justin LaBrash he approached us, and he heard we put on a great show, and he wanted to be part of it,” said Heinrichs.
Last year 10 community groups provided the volunteers to make sure the program could take place.
“I need to give a big shout out to the Kinsmen Club and the Agricultural Society for putting up money to help us fund the show. We have other sponsors and they’ve already stepped up for 2023.
Tickets for the 2023 Canada Day program in Killarney go on sale December 1st.
