LOGAN, Ohio — The Parkersburg South boys basketball team improved to 9-1 with a 60-47 win over Logan Saturday.
Ashton Mooney led all scorers with 20 points for the Patriots, who are slated to play Westerville Central at 6 p.m. Monday at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio. Cyrus Traugh added 10 points, Riley Street and Caleb Schafer netted nine apiece and Jackson Smith tallied eight.
The Chieftains (7-6) were paced by Mason Frashure’s 13 points. Caden Albert added 12 and Owen Engle tallied eight.
Warren 59, Chillicothe 33
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Trent Taylor and Brayden Sallee combined for 38 points to lead Warren to a 59-33 victory over Chillicothe Saturday.
Taylor scored a game-high 20 points and Sallee added 18 as the duo combined to outscore the Cavaliers, who got nine points each from Mason Siberall and Tayvion Galloway.
Dennis Pettey and Julian Stadleman chipped in seven points apiece for the Warriors, who improved to 9-4 this season.
The Warren defense came to play, limiting Chillicothe to single-digit points in three out of four quarters.
James Monroe 81, Tyler Consolidated 47
KIDWELL — It was all James Monroe in Saturday’s Boggs Roundball Classic championship game as the Mavericks dominated host Tyler Consolidated 81-47.
Eli Allen scored a game-high 23 points for JMHS (9-1), while Shad Sauvage also had a nice game with 19 points. Cam Thomas (13 points) and Collin Fox (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Mavs, who jumped out to 23-6 lead after the first quarter.
The Silver Knights (6-4) were led by Caleb Strode’s 21 points. Connor Bailey added 12 and Haygen Baker netted eight for Tyler, which visits Ravenswood Wednesday.
Portsmouth Notre Dame 54, Parkersburg South 48
FAIRLAND, Ohio — Things went south for Parkersburg South in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 54-48 loss to Portsmouth Notre Dame at Fairland High School.
The Patriots (4-6) led 42-36 going into the final period but got outscored 18-6 over the last eight minutes as the Titans (9-3) rallied for the win.
Annie Detwiller’s 18 points led all scorers as she paced Notre Dame. Katie Strickland added 10 points for the Titans and Gracie Ashley added eight.
South received 15 points and three assists from Skylar Bosley. Brooke Sandy added 11 points, Allee Small netted eight and Carrie Rhodes and Hannah Wingrove chipped in six apiece.
Rhodes also tallied seven rebounds and five blocks while Taylor Graham led the team with three steals.
South will look to rebound Tuesday when it visits rival Parkersburg.
Ravenswood 58, Southern 45
RACINE, Ohio — Hadleigh McGoskey scored a game-high 23 points to go along with six rebounds as she led Ravenswood to a 58-45 victory over Southern Saturday.
Emily Wratchford chipped in eight points, five boards four assists and six steals for the Red Devils, who blanked Southern 9-0 in the opening quarter and led 15-9 at halftime. Maci Mosser chipped in seven points and six steals for RHS.
Ravenswood pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Tornadoes 24-11 to go up 39-20 entering the final period.
Southern was led by Kayla Evans’ 21 markers.
Williamstown 87, Wheeling Central 60
WHEELING — Williamstown put on an offensive clinic on the road Saturday, defeating host Wheeling Central 87-60.
Aubrey Erwin led the Yellowjackets (5-7) with 18 points. Riley Landis, Georgie Inman and Sophie Folwell all added 16 points to the Williamstown cause.
The ‘Jackets, who play host to Wahama Tuesday, scored 20 in the first, 20 in the second, 28 in the third and 19 in the fourth.
Central got a game-high 22 points from Kiera Wilkinson, plus 15 from Lily Vogrin and 13 from Abbey Jones.
