A couple of Texas police officers were killed in an ambush as they responded to a domestic violence call, according to their chief.

McAllen officers Edelmiro Garza, 45, and Ismael Chavez, 39, ” had NO chance” as the shooter opened fire in the Southern Texas town Saturday, chief Victor Rodriguez stated.

The Shooter was identified as Audon Ignacio Camarillo, 23, who concealed himself behind a car when other officers got here – shooting and killing himself prior to being apprehended, the chief stated.

Associates of the killed police had no idea of the two officers’ deaths until they showed up and discovered their bodies, Rodriguez stated.

” We lost 2 brave public servants who looked to keep peace in our City,” Rodriguez, noticeably troubled, told The First News Click Team.

” They were doing their job as always. That is what they were expected to do,” he stated.

” The officers never suspected any lethal attack on them, much less death.”

Information on the domestic disruption call that was reacted to by Garza and Chavez – veterans with the force for 8 and 2 years respectively – were not understood right away.

Camarillo had a couple of altercations with authorities back in 2016 to his newest arrest last month for assault charges, according to public records.

Police from a number of cities in Hidalgo County collected Saturday night at McAllen to honor Garza and Chavez.

More than 50 patrol cars accompanied the bodies of the officers, who were taken to Hidalgo County pathology for an autopsy.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who talked to Rodriguez, offered complete support and offered his assistance by means of social networks.

” Two of our finest were killed today in the line of duty while working to safeguard homeowners in their neighborhood,” Abbott said on Twitter. “We join together now to #BackTheBlue.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton tweeted that his office will offer the McAllen Police Department any aid required.

” Our prayers and complete assistance are with the officers of the #CityofMcAllen PD this night,” Paxton said clearly, “We are grateful for the protection of police officers in McAllen and around this terrific state.”

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez of McAllen stated in a declaration that getting news of the two officers’ deaths was “shocking.”.

” This is shocking news to our neighborhood. My heart breaks for these fallen officers and their families,” Gonzalez stated. “They served McAllen fearlessly and honorably and I will keep them in my prayers.”.
